Spiritual Warfare and Praying for Protection
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places" (Ephesians 6:12). The believer's life is a real conflict against a real enemy, and Scripture does not soften that fact. But the same Bible that names the enemy also gives the believer everything needed to stand against him: the armor of God, the authority of the name of Jesus, the blood of the cross, the Word of God, and the power of agreement in prayer. The believer who knows what he has in Christ is not a victim of the enemy. He is more than a conqueror through Him that loved us (Romans 8:37).
This pillar is dedicated to biblical teaching on spiritual warfare and praying protection over your life, your family, your home, and your work — for believers in small Pentecostal, charismatic, and independent churches across the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Ireland, and beyond. Written without sensationalism, fear-mongering, or speculation, but also without softening what the Bible says is real.
The Enemy Is Real, but Already Defeated
The Bible names Satan as a real spiritual being, the father of lies, who comes only to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10; John 8:44). It also names him as already defeated. Colossians 2:15 says Jesus disarmed principalities and powers, made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in the cross. Hebrews 2:14 says Jesus through death destroyed the one who had the power of death — that is, the devil. The believer does not fight for victory; the believer fights from victory already won by Christ.
Articles in this pillar teach the believer's biblical position over the enemy — not as someone striving to overcome a stronger foe, but as someone enforcing a victory that has already been secured at the cross.
The Authority of the Believer
Jesus said, "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you" (Luke 10:19). Mark 16:17 says, "In my name shall they cast out devils." Every born-again believer carries delegated authority in the name of Jesus. This is not a special anointing for a few; it is the standard equipment of every member of the body of Christ.
Articles in this pillar teach how to exercise that authority — not loudly, dramatically, or with theatre, but with the calm settled confidence of someone who knows whose Name they are speaking in. Binding and loosing, resisting the devil so he flees (James 4:7), pleading the blood of Jesus, standing on Scripture against accusation and fear.
The Armor of God
Ephesians 6:13–18 lays out the armor God has provided: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, feet shod with the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God, and prayer in all forms. Each piece corresponds to a real function in the believer's daily life. Articles in this pillar teach what each piece is, how to put it on, and how to live in it day after day rather than scrambling for it in moments of attack.
Praying Protection over Your Family and Home
The believer is not only called to stand for himself. He is called to stand in the gap for his family, his home, his work, and the people God has placed in his life. Articles in this pillar teach how to pray protection — over children, over marriage, over finances, over your church, over those who travel or who are sick or who face spiritual or physical danger. The practical prayers, the biblical foundation, and the daily disciplines of intercession.
What You Will Find in This Section
Articles cover the biblical foundation of spiritual warfare, the believer's authority in Christ, the armor of God, binding and loosing, the blood of Jesus as a weapon, the name of Jesus, resisting the devil, recognising spiritual attack vs. natural circumstance, praying protection over your family and home, dealing with fear and torment, basic deliverance principles for ordinary believers, and how to walk free of accusation and condemnation. All grounded in the Bible, written from inside Pentecostal experience, and aimed at sober biblical practice rather than dramatic spectacle.
Connected Pillars
Spiritual warfare connects with Prayer That Gets Answered, because intercession and warfare prayer are inseparable. It connects with Faith That Moves Mountains, because the shield of faith is the believer's defence against every fiery dart of the wicked one. And it connects with Living in the Word, because the sword of the Spirit is the Word of God — and a believer who does not know Scripture has no offensive weapon in this fight.
